Empowering Union: Leadership, Social Media, and Digital Safety Training for SLWJA committee members
In connection with the Union to Union project conducted by IFJ – International Federation of Journalists in conjunction with 2024, a two-day residential training was held at Mount Breeze Hotel, Mount Lavinia. The training, titled Leadership, Social Media & Digital Safety, focused on equipping participants with essential leadership skills, social media best practices, and digital safety measures. The session was attended by 20 members of the Sri Lanka Working Journalists’ Association (SLWJA), including executive committee, women’s committee, and finance committee.
The training was led by four SLWJA members who had previously been trained at the IFJ TOT (Training of Trainers) program and senior digital media trainer Haritha Dahanayaka. Participants engaged in discussions on leadership fundamentals, strategies for social media engagement, and online threat mitigation.
Additionally, the workshop highlighted the importance of advancing the association’s future work, including recruiting new members and issuing media ID cards.
